India,
a Union of States, is a Sovereign Socialist Secular Democratic Republic
with a parliamentary system of government. The Republic is governed
in terms of the Constitution, which was adopted by Constituent Assembly
on 26th November 1949 and came into force on 26th January 1950.
INDIA is one of the oldest civilisations with a kaleidoscopic variety
and rich cultural heritage. India has become self sufficient in
agricultural production and is now the tenth industrialised country
in the world. India has become the sixth nation to have gone into
outer space to conquer nature for the benefit of the people.
